Mold Remediation

Mold remediation is essential when dealing with mold growth in your home or work. Mold can pose serious health risks.

Mold causes natural materials to biodegrade and can cause property damage. Mold can play important roles in science in the production of various foods, beverages, antibiotics, pharmaceuticals and enzymes. However, they can cause diseases in humans and animals from allergic sensitivity or toxic compounds produced as the mold reproduces.

Mold is a fungus with hundreds of thousands of identified species. They reproduce by producing large numbers of small spores. Mold feed off of organic matter like food and wood. Most mold need a warm, moist environment to thrive (between 5 C – 38 C). The spores may stay in the air indefinitely and may cling to clothing or fur. The greatest likelihood of mold growth is in wet areas like bathrooms, water-damaged walls, ceilings, or basements.

The Canadian Health Authority states that mold can be hazardous in the following ways:

  • Mold spores can cause allergies

  • Mold is inflammatory

  • Mold can have toxic properties

People at the greatest risk to mold:

  • The elderly

  • Pregnant women

  • Individuals with respiratory conditions or allergies and asthma

  • Persons with weakened immune systems (HIV positive persons, cancer patients, those with immune disorders such as Lupus)

There are no formal government regulations regarding safe or unsafe mold exposure levels so the best way to avoid mold-related illness is to prevent mold growth and handle affected areas using safe mold remediation procedures.

Alpine Abatement offers complete mold remediation in residential, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings by safely and quickly removing contaminated materials. We will also utilize a 3rd party to test air levels and give final clearance.
